Hans Merensky


Merensky was a Geologist from South Africa. He did very many things for his country and his surroudings. Hans was a nature lover and found himself many places in life. Born from missionaries and then studied mining engineering in Berlin, Germany .He had training in coal mines and then worked for East Prussia in a mine department. He has discovered many things in many places and made lots of contributions to South Africa, he discovered some of the best minerals that anyone has ever found. He was a famous Pioneer that had reefs named after him. He made millions of dollars but instead of him keeping it all to himself he gave to charities,schools,universities and many more.





The Early Years


Merensky was born in BotshabeloTransversaal, South Africa on March 16, 1871. His Mother and Father were Missionaries, After staying in Africa for years his family decided to move back to Germany and thats were he attended school. He went to the University of Berlin in Germany. During his time there he studied Geology. After staying in Germany for a while he went back to South Africa and became a Mining Engineer. In the early 1900's he was put in a concentration camp because he had been a Prussian Officer.The reason he came back to South Africa is because he was searching for Diamonds but that did'nt work out, soon he went bankrupt. Years later he found a reef and named it after him. Many people know him as the man who had personal integrity and many abilities.
He came with the idea that diamonds could be found along the coast of South Africa by Alexander Bay, also in the mid-1900's he discovered,predicted, and led his way back up to wealth.



Major Contributions


Hans has made many contributions to his country as well as around the world. Merensky lives for benefitting people He shared his money with schools.charities,universities,hospitals, and many more. After his death he had a will and in it he had a trust fund to make sure that he would have the agriculture,and forestry operations on his Westfalia Estate to make sure it would focus on the soil revitalization. The fund was tooken over by the Merensky Foundation.The fund also helps students with grants and in many different fields, ranging from chemistry to agriculture.

Merensky devoted his life to making sure he helped out nature and that's just what he did. He lived for making sure that he helped out as many people and things as he could. It was his mission to help people because that's what he liked doing. Hans basically devoted his life to nature and agriculture. He found Diamonds,gold, and Jewles things that nobody else has found.
